Wet Test Analysis for Acid Radicals: Preparation of solution for acid radical examination | Chemistry by Burhan Ishaque
Take 1 gm of the given mixture and about 2 grams of pure solid Na2CO3 in a china dish. Add 15-20 cm3 of distilled water. Boil for 5 minutes and filter. Reject the residue, if any. Treat the filtrate with ammonia. This may be called as neutral solution or N.S.
Pass H2S gas through a test
portion. If yellow or orange ppt. is obtained, then pass H2S through
whole solution until substance is completely precipitated. Filter, reject the
ppt. and boil of H2S from filtrate. Make this filtrate slightly
alkaline by the addition of ammonia. Call this filtrate as original solution or
O.S. and use it for the examination of acid radials.
Preparation of aqueous solution:
Take 1 gram of mixture and 10 cm3
of distilled water in a china dish. Boil for 5 minutes and filter. Reject the
residue. Call this filtrate as aqueous solution (Aq. Soln.)
